  • Jake's is a fabulous restaurant with the best views arguably on all of Tahoe. The food has always been excellent and healthy. We are athletes and notice that we don't gain weight, despite consistently sumptuous food. We eat out weekly in the Truckee-North Tahoe area, and this is our favorite! Jake is well run, has great wait help and wonderful food. Lake Tahoe is in your face.

  • Jake's is at the top of my must-do list when I visit California. The calamari is so good. We order it before we even look at the menu. Jake's is so accommodating that we could substitute a spicier fresh fish to top my already yummy caesar salad. The chicken sandwich has an incredible sauce on it -- so good! The shrimp and crab melt is something I have ordered many times, and every time it is outstanding. Love you, Jake's!

  • Beautiful setting right by the lake. Wonderful decor and ambiance and very good tasting food. Definitely a great choice for a special occasion when spending a few days in Tahoe. We have been there several times, and it is just as worth going every time.

  • We went up to Lake Tahoe to view the Moon Eclipse this past Sunday abd were looking for a place for dinner that evening and found Jake's On The Lake. This was our first time at this establishment, and we were pleasantly surprised. The seating Hostess was very friendly and greeted us warmly. They gave us an option for indoor or outdoor dining. We chose to stay inside, it was getting cooler outside. She seated us at a table for two with a fantastic view of Lake Tahoe and the Marina. Our server was very pleasant explained all specials for that evening. We enjoyed a beautiful sunset while having drinks, followed by a very nice dinner. We started with the Lamb Ribs for an appetizer, a very well seasoned, great sauce. Our entrees were the Diver Scallops and Short Ribs. Both dishes were presented very well and delicious. There was no rush, and our server kept checking back to see if everything was to our liking. We will be returning to Jake's when we visit the Tahoe City area in the future. What more could you ask for? Great Food and a Fantastic View!

  • I can't say enough good things about the service and ambiance at Jake's on the Lake. Upon entering, we were greeted with beautiful views of Lake Tahoe. We were welcomed by the bartender, Noble(?), that eagerly served us drinks and, although busy, took time to explain drink options. Shortly thereafter, we were taken to our table. We made a reservation on OpenTable and requested a seat with a view, and the restaurant gave us the best table in the house to watch the sunset. They also read that we had Spanish-speaking people in our party and accommodated us with a waitress that was learning Spanish and eager to practice. Jenny was awesome and attentive and made our dining experience a special one. She even gave us the Hula Pie for free! Everyone said they were full, but we devoured that—definitely the highlight of the night.

  • We were a party of 8, and I'm sure we were the loud ones. Alyson, our server was awesome. The views from the deck are excellent. The weather was perfect to have a sunset dinner on the deck. Drinks were perfect. Food was excellent. We all had a wonderful time and will make this a regular spot. Thank you again.

  • Many thanks to the staff of Jake's on the Lake for hosting a memorable family meal to celebrate my mother's 70 years of life. The menu offered multiple menu choices for a variety of palates. Service was great - wait staff very attentive, the timely arrival of menu and drink items. Thanks for making a memorable evening for all of us!

  • I had made a note on my reservation that we wanted an outside table with a heater if they were still serving on the patio. A few hours before our reservation time, the restaurant called to let us know they saw our note and, due to the wind/temperature, patio dining would not be available and asked if we were ok with dining inside. We were. I just mention this as a big plus for the courtesy notification rather than letting us know when we arrived. They gave us a wonderful corner window table overlooking the lake instead. All four of us enjoyed our dinner, including meat options (pork chops and short ribs) and seafood (scallops). All were prepared well and presented very attractively. The server was excellent in her knowledge of not only the menu but the wine options and managed to be both courteous and friendly while still completely professional, adding to the overall very positive experience. We all would go back again based on this experience.

  • Jake's is right on the marina in Tahoe City. Awesome views from the bar of the lake and mountains! Our server was excellent, and the food was very good. They also have a great happy hour menu.

  • We were seated at a great table on the patio right away, even though we went on a Sunday night. The dinner & drink menus were extensive. We ordered scallops which came with risotto, and both were delicious. We finished everything on our plates, which is unusual for us. We will return to Jakes again.

  • We came for our last meal as a family of 8 in Tahoe, and we were so glad we did! It was the only real meal we ate out, and I was so impressed with the menu, the ambiance, and the service. We were seated outside overlooking the lake at sunset, which is the best place to be! I had the halibut, and I loved every bite! If I ever find myself in Tahoe again, I'll be sure to go back!

  • We were in Tahoe for the weekend. I made these reservations the day before and requested a table with a good view of the lake. At first, I made a res for two, then changed it to 4. I called to see if we could still get a "view" table. The hostess said she would try her best...I wasn't hopeful Much to my surprise, we had a beautiful outdoor table overlooking the marina and lake! Perfect Our dinners were all very good, and I recommend the crab cakes and the lemongrass shrimp!

  • We had an amazing dinner overlooking one of the most scenic lakes in the world. It was a quiet, romantic evening for us, and the staff, drinks, and food at Jake's made it very special. I can't say enough of the warm brie starter and the seared scallop main plate.

  • We absolutely loved Jakes on the Lake as a post-hike, easy cleanup, classic spot on Lake Tahoe. My Brother went for drinks on his 30th back in June, so we decided to drive up from Reno (35 mins) to try the food. We arrived early and had drinks at the bar while they got our table ready. The atmosphere was incredible, and the food was to die for. I live in NYC and am constantly searching for great food in other cities. Jake's hit all the marks, and we had a very, very special night with the fam. I would recommend this restaurant to pretty much everyone!

  • Excellent views! I brought my Wife here for a nice dinner by the Lake and to have a fine dining experience. I noticed the special had a NY Steak with Demi-glace. I have not had real in-house Demi-glace in years. Indeed it was. Our Waitress Alysen made our night very nice. (Hope I spelled her name correctly.) The Wife had the Filet and I the NY. They were perfect. I had these little round goat cheese and potato spheres that were cooked to creamy perfection. By the way, I despise goat cheese. This did not have that musky flavor. They were excellent. The Asparagus sprigs were tender with a slight crispness that was delicate. The Hula Pie with a fudge and macadamia nut topping had made a fantastic finish to our meal. Indeed, there is an experienced chef in this establishment. I will always remember our time at Jake's on the Lake. Bravo!
